For those who have a predilection for the long, drawn-out ambient rock of Mogwai and Sigur Ros, the purely instrumental compositions of Austin, Texas-quartet Explosions In The Sky are likely to pique your interest. Only six tracks long over 43 minutes, All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone may be a little exhausting for most listeners who haven’t developed the patience for bands like this. But each song, epic in proportions – layering ever-building theme upon theme – never seems to lull even a bit. For a little reference point, these are the same guys behind the score to the film Friday Night Lights – probably the only redeeming aspect to that tried troubled-jocks-cum-underachievers story.
